21 Jun A triumph for Marlow Bridge Rotary
An audience of over three hundred people packed All Saints Church in Marlow to its rafters on Friday 26th May; all there to hear Paul Mayhew-Archer, co-writer of the ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ perform his one-man show ‘The Incurable Optimist’.
And what a truly fantastic performance! Side splitting, true to life humour flowed from Paul Mayhew-Archer like honey out of a jar. Every-day occurrences were turned into comedy, including his own shattering diagnosis of Parkinson’s. The thunderous applause that accompanied the long standing ovation he received was fully deserved – all to raise money for research into a cure for this destructive illness that invades his life.
To crown the evening, Marlow Bridge Rotary, already renowned for its pioneering, community projects and events – think such as ‘Making Marlow Dementia Friendly’ ‘Caribbean Evening’ and ‘MBR Quiz Night’ – presented Parkinson’s UK with a cheque for £6,500.
