MBRC open evening

MBRC Open Meeting 25 May

MBRC Open Meeting 25 May – Super presentation on REPoD and very good to have updates on various other MBRC support projects

Very pleased to welcome a wide-range of attendees at our meeting with club members, plus visiting Rotarians and many of our Project and Community Partners who are all assisting MBRC as part of our quickly developing MBRC Community Support Hub for Marlow.

It was great to have an update presentation by Dr Geri Parlby, Chairman of REPoD (Rotarians Easing Problems of Dementia) www.repod.org.uk.  The presentation was timed as a follow on to Dementia Action Week.

Geri outlined the background and activities of REPoD from inception 15 years ago, to date – helping those living with dementia. Some of the highlights being: setting up memory cafes; progressing the accreditation of DF towns; funding and engaging Admiral Nurses: provision of advice on many aspects of living with dementia, including provision of sensory gardens.  Geri went on to discuss how they are working to promote the campaign by The Alzheimer’s Society to encourage people, particularly those in their 40s and 50s, about the importance of good brain health, and how taking positive steps can help reduce the risk of dementia later on.

We also reviewed and had updates from many of our ongoing and upcoming projects and initiatives being run by MBRC with Marlow Energy Group, Marlow Wombles, Wild Marlow, One Can Trust, Marlow Museum, Marlow Library and Marlow Medical Group, which were very well received.
