One Can Trust

AS PART of our support for the one can trust, as an example of updates produced, please see this week’s One Can Hero update as below

From Jo Belshaw at One Can – click here for more details on One Can.

Thank you so much to everyone who continues to support One Can as we aim to tackle hunger across South Bucks. The number of people that we are supporting is rising. Thank you to everyone who plays their part in making this support possible.

Our appeal for Christmas hamper items has been launched and we will soon be ready to receive donations (16th – 27th November). For those of you still going into your places of work, could you ask your colleagues to bring in any of the specific items on the list?

Much as we all love a mince pie and a Christmas pudding (and they are at the top of our list), may we encourage you to buy other items please. If you can also do your best to buy items with as long a shelf life as possible, we’d be very grateful. Thank you.

Donation Cages

Please let me know if you’d like one of these donation cages  in your place of work. They only take up a floor area of approx 40cm2 so not overly huge. We can add the Christmas hamper list to the backboard too to help remind people of what is needed.

Thank you for your donations

Christmas Trees at Peterley Manor Farm, Great Missenden

I’m delighted to let you know that Peterley Manor Farm will be making a donation to One Can Trust based upon the sale of their Christmas trees this year. They are also happy for One Can volunteers to be present during key weekends to collect money and food donations. Could you help?
We’re looking for volunteers to ‘man the stand’ as follows:
Saturday 28 & Sunday 29 November and Saturday 5 & Sunday 6 December.Peterley are open 8.30am – 5pm on Saturdays and 9am – 3pm on Sundays (the busiest time during these days is 10am – 3pm / 4pm).Peterley Manor is a wonderful local business that has been incredibly supportive of One can throughout lockdown. Please click here to access their website.

Christmas Wreaths

There is still time to order a Christmas wreath and support One Can this year. One of our very talented volunteers has offered to make Christmas wreaths costing £30 (£5 costs and £25 profit to One Can) with profit being gift aided to One Can too. Please text your order to Janie Grover on 07977 103316. If you’re able to pay Janie with cash, cheque or bank transfer (Janie will provide her details), she’ll keep a list of who has ordered. Janie is aiming to make the wreaths towards the end of November and will deliver in the first week of December. Thank you.

The output of your donations

  • In the week to 3/11/20, we delivered food parcels for 488 people, 238 were children.
  • This represents a 117% increase over March’s figures of 225 people per week and an 8% increase over last week’s figures.

Thank you

Thank you so much for your continued hard work and support. We are committed to helping those in need and reaching out to people who perhaps don’t know that we are here or how to access our services. Thank you for spreading the word. If you would like some A5 posters to put up in your local newsagent, launderette, barbers etc. or little cards to hand out, please let me know. You can click here to access an electronic version. Thank you.

We can issue emergency food parcels within 24 hours ahead of getting referral paperwork in place. Please get in touch if you know of someone who is struggling to put food on the table. Thank you.
